Perfect Blue
More twists than a chromosome! This tense psychological thriller tracks Mima's inner turmoil as exhaustion and typically Japanese social pressures take their toll. At one point this film had me feeling sick with the stress, as I was as baffled as Mima by what was happening to her, while she continued to try to keep everyone happy in intolerable circumstances. Excellent storyline, though both the artwork and English dubbing lack the 'spark' that normally illuminates Manga animation. ajb

An inspirational breath of fresh air, with a raw aftertaste. Listen to it and love it regularly, though the second album (a grand don't come for free) offers this with the added bonus of a little gloss and finesse. ajb
