Nostalgia is not what it all seems
Been on the look out for this classic for ages and decided to relive my younger days. It's not as strong as it used to be and it tends to wear off after a few hours but the herbal smell is lovely. It's difficult to find in the shops and if you find it, it's expensive for what it is now.

Gran Torino
They say this could be Clint Eastwood's last acting role. I hope not. Superb acting, set pieces and a classic car (of which we did n't see enough of). Mr Eastwood plays a grizzled old Korean War veteran, parts that I think he plays best at. There is even a hint of the old Dirty Harry in evidence when he confronts the hoodlum gang, and how he befriends the young oriental boy next door is quite touching. You are seeing a master behind and in front of the camera at work here.

Xtro - A New Dimension In Fear
I've been waiting to see this B-movie sci-fi shocker with anticipation. It certainly did n't disappoint. No cgi or fancy special effects here but it did n't need any to create an unsettling and quite gut wrenching alien horror film ie the birth scene. The film was obviously low budget and made with completlely unknown actors. However the alien was imaginatively scary and totally without remorse. Perhaps did n't get the recognition it deserved when it first came out in the cinema (not long after ET).
