What everyone should know about me
Calluna Books is based in Dorset and specialise in buying and selling out of print natural history books. The business is owned by Neil Gartshore, who is assisted on a part-time basis by his Japanese wife, Yuki.

Business Information

History/background
Calluna Books began trading in July 1997 with our first mail order catalogue. Since then we have steadily built up our stock list & now aim to carry at least 2000 titles at any one time. We have a wide range of items covering various natural history subjects including birds, mammals, invertebrates, flora & general natural history of the UK & further afield including a selection in the Poyser & New Naturalist series. We sell through catalogues (2/3 times pa), by attending Birds Fairs incl Rutland Water in August and our new website as well as on ebay. Neil has a life long interest in natural history & spent 23 yrs working in nature conservation in the UK & South Africa. Since 1991 he has been based in Dorset but after 15-yrs working for the RSPB on Dorset heathlands decided it was time for a change. He is now spending his time developing Calluna Books, launching a natural history guiding service in Dorset (The Dorset Birding & Wildlife Experience) & leading overseas wildlife tours.
