Three Stooges - Have Rocket Will Travel
Like all the Stooges later features this one is an enjoyable film. Curly Joe DeRita (in his first film as a Stooge) is not Curley, but he is the best replacement. The Stooges are up to their same old antics, but how enjoyable it is to see them and wonder at how they out-lasted virtually every other hollywood comedy team. The film is aimed at a young audience, but adult Stooge fans will not notice this. The romantic leads (Anna-Lisa and Bob Colbert) are so sappy it is hard to take them seriously. However, Jerome Cowan as J.P. Morse is an excellent pompous foil for the boys to ruin. Over-the-top romantic leads and see through special effects really do not hurt this film for true Stooge lovers. Highlights include the Stooges singing and voice actor Dal McKennon doing the vocals for the unicorn (McKennon did a lot of work on the old Woody Woodpecker cartoons). I do not know why this feature has not made it onto DVD as yet (all the others have). I have a soft spot for the Stooges later features eventhough it is not their best work. If you like the Stooges you'll like this movie.
