eBay My World: dont-pay-a-garage( 572)

I'm mechanically minded and enjoy fixing things, and I find it very satisfying making things work that would otherwise be thrown away. I live in Northern England (far Northern England - Leeds, Manchester etc are classed as the South here!).

My absolute rule though is that I myself will have tested the items. So I won't buy a brand of parts, until I've tried them myself. I think thats quite unusual, but it is really important to me that people are pleased with what they get - to me that's the best bit about eBay, and I've met some really nice people through buying and selling.

I think eBay may be the best thing since sliced bread. I've bought all sorts of things from all over the world - often things that I could not find in the U.K. I even bought my pride and joy, my landrover on eBay.

Wildlife and pets. Currently fostering a hedgehog! Not so much a hobby, more of a lifestyle is pursuing the green option for my home (but it must save money too!). We have wood fired heating & hot water and we source all the wood ourselves from a genuinely renewable source. I'd love to go to solar P.V electricity, but it is still too dear unfortunately.

I've been buying and selling on eBay for 10 years (as of March 2010) and decided there was no one selling just the price and quality range of parts (there seem to be lots of sellers of either cheapy market specials that don't last, or super dooper expensive ones.) that the DIY'er or home mechanics really need. So decided to go into that area myself.

Paypal. Tried others but the security for me or customers was not satisfactory to me.

I try and offer free p&p wherever possible. I also use recycled materials and packaging as much as I can. It involves more time, but it's part of my little bit of greeness (is there such a word?). 99% of my items go by next day delivery service.

Apart from anything faulty, which of course can be returned. I accept returns if unused (and if unopened if in sealed packaging) and of course I accept returns within the legal rules as you should. For some types of items, to save everyones time I offer buyers that I can open the package and test before sending - but I let them decide if they want me to do it. To me the answer really is for sellers to only sell decent stuff! Part of the reason I try out goods before I'll stock them is to save customer having to return things. I see no point in selling goods that people might need to send back and hence why you will see that I sell the top and trade brands only.
