I've collected book for over 15 years and have somehow managed to accumulate over 10,000 volumes! As we are retired and moving further South soon, I need to cut down my collection to about 2,000 - still a few thousand left to go!

Books and more Books! Mainly thrillers, crime, true crime, biographies, military and anything maritime - fiction and non-fiction, sport.

I used to be a language teacher (secondary) but took early retirement before the job killed me. I started collecting books with a view to opening a bookshop, but my passion for sailing helped to prevent that. I managed to fill the house plus a 10 foot by 20 foot shed with books before it was announced that we were moving! I have spent the last few years trying to get rid of some.

I'm happy with payment with Paypal. I also accept private cheques (in£ sterling), postal orders, even cash (sterling, euros or US dollars). I always post books as soon as I receive payment and I don't wait for cheques to clear.

I try to post items immediately - I regulary go to the post office every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (when I also buy bread from the local bakery). I make a point of securely packaging all the books I sell - I've been appalled at the state some of the ones I buy on eBay arrive, with no attempt at protection and often damaged in consequence. So far, after over 5,000 sales, I have never had a single complaint about damage in transit, so I guess my system works! Some books (usually paperbacks) have card covering instead of bubblewrap so they fall into the cheaper Large Letter category. All other books are first bubblewrapped, then placed into a Jiffybag - for items shipped abroad, I also cover them in clingfilm and place them in a brown envelope for added protection. As eBay now insist that p&p for books is free, I have to add on the extra costs by increasing the starting bid price.

I am happy to offer any customer a full refund, provided the reasons given are fair and reasonable - if the fault is with me (eg incorrect description, wrong book, wrong address) I will also refund any postage costs as well. I will also offer a partial refund if the customer wishes to keep the book. This offer does not extend to overseas customers, nor to anyone who leaves a negative feedback before getting in touch with me.
