Name: Henry Li (Artist Pen Name: Jiyilouzhu) Born: 1959 Trained in a time-honored tradition of art, I began painting in 1974 under Zhang Zhengyin, a master in my hometown Nanjing. I was majored in Archaeology when I went Nanjing University in 1978, and became a fellow of the Center for Oriental Painting and Calligraphy Study in 1983. I taught traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy at the University of Washington, Experimental College from 1988 to 1995. My art works have been exhibited and collected around the world for more than 20 years. I work tediously to make my paintings look effortless, spontaneous and timeless.
