I can't remember the technical terms for the settings of a safety razor, but I own an adjustable one and think of it as being adjusted from agressive or harsh to sensitive or smooth. This Razor is silky smooth, it's almost as if there is no blade in it. I have no idea if it would cope with a heavy beard, but for my quite fine beard it works a treat. The razor is nicely weighted and feels good in the hand. The finish is highly polished and attractive. It is still new so I don't know if the butterfly mechanism will last or if the finish will tarnish and rust. I bought this as an economically priced razor to go in my travel bag, but if it keeps on being this good, my 'best' razor might end up in the travel bag. I really like this razor, if it lasts well it will have been a fantastic bargain.
