Pardo Baker Design import and distribute Wall Bed mechanisms and Electric Articulated Beds from Pardo in Spain. We have grown to be considered the largest supplier of Wall Bed mechanisms in the U.K. and Ireland and distributing to furniture manufacturers and retailers nationwide. In 1983 John Baker was approached by the architect involved in the St. Mellion Golf and Country Club – Time Share Project (Saltash, Cornwall UK). He was asked to provide a space saving wallbed as part of the Dining Room furniture to accommodate more guests per lodge. This he did and used a Pardo mechanism (by Industrias Hidraulicas Pardo S.A. of Zaragoza.) in conjunction with a French Furniture manufacturer. In 1985 John was appointed Pardo’s sole agent for the U.K. and Ireland, and as a result Pardo beds and Wallbed systems were supplied to or specified by some of the largest Bed and Furniture companies. This led to the setting up of HideAway Beds Ltd to market the Hideaway and SwingAway Beds.
