    old but awesome
looks fantastic, works perfectly. These old clock radios are very reliable, colour of LEDs and brightness are well tuned to allow you to go to sleep. Radio is excellent, and they look fantastic.

    HTC Typhoon (Orange SPV C500)
Well it's the right size for a phone, not like the more recent smartphones that to me are just too big. It synchronises very easily with Outlook (after downloading ActiveSync from Microsoft (Bing or Google it). It has a mini-SD slot in it. I just got a Mini-SD to micro-sd adaptor for £1.50 so I could plug in my SD card. Battery life seems very good. I couldn't bluetooth my contacts from my other phone to this. Not sure why. The trust setup went OK, it just wouldn't accept the contacts, however this could be a security setting (under "Beam") that I missed. Nice screen. I changed back to the standard Windows screen and colours which are much nicer than orange's selections. User interface is very good, I was impressed. I wouldn't buy a windows phone for £500. But they phones are £25 second hand. A great bargain. Not 3g, but I've got a 3g phone and hardly ever use 3g features. I guess it depends whether you want a phone as a phone/texter (in which case this phone is great), or as yet another internet platform. [people should start thinking they might be addicted to the internet if they can't leave it behind for half an hour while they go shopping].

Samsung NP-R40 Core 2 Duo excellent build quality
With 2 gig of RAM, this really flies running Vista. Don't consider using Vista with less than 2 gig of RAM. The build quality of this laptop is much higher than my Sony Vaio (and the Vaio mobo had to be replaced under warranty also). It's got a SVideo out, so combined with the Media Center that comes with the built-in Vista Home Premium, you can easily connect to even an older TV (like mine). For a few quid you can get an SVideo cable, and a 3.5mm to phono, and using these you can usually (perhaps with a SCART adaptor - mine didn't need one) to the TV. After this, download iTunes rentals etc, and play them on your TV. (or put in a £20 DVB Digital TV USB stick and record TV on your laptop). Absolutely awesome laptop. Best I've ever bought. Close second would be the various Dells I've owned followed by the Vaio. I've also had Mac laptops, the benefit there being the way they maintain their resale value better, but they are too different to compare to Windows Laptops. Going back to the Samsung. Recommended. Great value for money.
