Kenwood KDW60B16 Full-size Dishwasher - Black
25 Apr, 2019
Stylish, Good Value & Easy To Use...!
I read a lot of reviews about this dishwasher while deciding carefully before purchasing. Over all the reviews were positive but there was a number of negative reviews that nearly put me off buying & going for a different model, I will cover some of these & tell you unbiasedly what I have thus far found with this dishwasher. Firstly this is my second dishwasher, my last one was an Indesit - DSFN 1530 B, this lasted me 10 years, cleaned & dried great in its lifecycle. The only issue I had with it was the door handle snapped after a few years as was very flimsy. - Now to the Kenwood - The dishwasher looks very nice in black with blue LED display, looks better than my old one so was very pleased. Out of the box it took me 20 mins to install & have it running, this included removing all the packaging ect. Everything needed to set up came included as well as clear instructions, which I only used to set hard water level. For me I found it very easy to set up & straight forward to program, it was slightly easier to set up than my old one. Inside the dishwasher the layout is different to my old one, it is fairly spacious but preferred the layout on my old one which had lots of stem holders on the top rack for your wine glasses, whereas the Kenwood only has one, my old one held cups & glass more stably, but i'm careful when stacking & closing so not really an issue. When running it is much quieter than my old one. I have only so far used a few times with Branded tabs, I haven't added any salt & haven't used any rinse aid. On auto setting everything came out clean & all most bone dry, I took pots out straight after it finished, my old one always dried stuff well, but if you opened it immediately sometimes things could have the odd bit of water & this one seems the same which for me is fine. When I used on rapid wash everything was wet after the cycle finished, perhaps it needs leaving for a bit after finishing to dry? So far I am happy with its results, the programs are all fairly long with the exception of rapid (30min) wash, however it isn't worth using unless your happy to rinse & dry everything yourself afterwards which to me seems to defeat the purpose. - Some of the negative reviews I read & what I have personally found - "Doesnt dry, everything stays wet" - I have found this only is the case when using 'rapid wash' setting, on the longer programs I found it dried fine, you also have an option to add extra drying with the other programs. "Tablet draw so doesnt open so tablet does not dissolve" - I haven't experienced this at all, may have incorrectly stacked dishwasher when loading. "It does not wash the dishes very effectively, cups and cutlery are seldom cleaned. The heated drying cycle is ineffective The programs are ridiculous in length especially when the dishes come out dirty still with a greasy film across most surfaces as well as little to no evidence of the heat cycle to dry" - So far mine has cleaned everything fine, maybe theirs was faulty, wrong settings or not maintained. I will agree that the programs are long in length but even my last one was. "poor value for money. The dishwasher is cheaply made, and of poor design" - Personally for the money I think it's very good value, it doesn't look remotely cheap & is better quality than my old one which I was really pleased about. "Bit of a flimsy door, needs a bit of a shove to close properly" - I think the door is fine,it's sturdy & it is much better build quality than my last one which split at the top & eventually broke in two. Pros - Stylish, Reasonable price, Cheap to run, Cleans well, Quiet, Easy to use, Clear display, Lots of wash cycles and times, Child Lock Cons - Poor loading design for wine glasses, Rapid wash doesn't dry, Long wash/Dry times, Layout inside could be designed better, The top loading basket can be difficult to push in sometimes. Over all I am happy with my purchase, for a budget dishwasher I think it's great, I hope you find my review helpful. : )
