Hi everyone.
I am a wheelchair disabled guy, injured while driving an HGV Milk tanker at the age of 24, suffering multiple injuries.
Now in my early sixties, I live with my little dog Jack and a Jackdaw called Charlie, who has not left home in 8yr
Sadly Charlie passed away at 12.30 am on the 17th March 08.
I held him in my hand for his last 30 minutes, while his breathing got more and more laboured.
My little friend will be missed very much, as his chirpy voice made me smile each day.
Charlie and I were meant to be together I suppose, as he managed to fall down next-doors chimney, and yet found a hole to end up behind my gas fire.
I had this little bird since April 2000, and after cleaning him up, and taking him to the vet (as he was wheezing with so much soot) he soon recovered.
I had neighbours digging up worms for him, but soon found out his favourite food was Honey Nut Cornflakes.
I taught this little bird to fly, and whenever we went outside he sat contented on my shoulder, or searching for edible what-not at my feet.
He did have one excursion, and was away wiith the other Jackdaws all one Saturday, but then flew down onto my shoulder on returning home, and never left me again.
Charlie you were a wonderful Friend.
