25 British Mod Artefacts - Take My Tip.
Excellent li'l compilation CD with stellar performances from some surprising sources! The multi-headed monster that is MOD is a hard thing to review when it comes to compilations - everyone will have their own version of what is/isn't MOD.
But this CD is a 4kn good selection of rare and not-so-rare tunes that give any newcomer or seasoned veteran a good cross section (no pun intended) of what the Originals were checking back in those heady halcyon days! A li'l tweeking here n there, but a solid attempt from the lads @ EMI! And at 25 tracks it's well worth digging into ya hipster pockets and gettin' yaself a copy!

THE HARDER THEY COME (soundtrack)
1. You Can Get It If You Really Want - Jimmy Cliff
2. Many Rivers To Cross - Jimmy Cliff
3. Harder They Come - Jimmy Cliff
4. Sitting In Limbo - Jimmy Cliff
5. Draw Your Brakes - Scotty
6. Rivers Of Babylon - Melodians
7. Sweet And Dandy - Toots & The Maytals
8. Pressure Drop - Toots & The Maytals
9. Johnny Too Bad - The Slickers
10. Shanty Town - Desmond Dekker
LOL!! What needs to be said about this soundtrack with a playlist like THAT!!??
Each track plays it's part in the film and enhances the vibe and feel of the it. Each gives the film resonance and depth and a sense of time and place. Could have been a li'l longer, but quality prevails over quantity here. Picking a favourite feels like choosing between your mum's Chicken, Rice n Peas and your wife's Brown Stew Chicken.. jus enjoy it ALL!! ;D

MC5 - The Vintage Years
Punk before punk!
a dirty grimy fuzzbox laden slab of proto-punk from the MC5.
the sound quality in some of the tracks is a bit dodgy, but it all helps to create a nice grungy atmos. kinda short for a CD, but what it lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality! a killer version of "I Can Only Give You Everything" is probably the stand out track here - the muffled sound on "Jams" is a p*sser- but all in all a cool li'l trip back to the 5 as you woulda heard them at their prime. play it LOUD!!!
