Caught by a fake; a sealed packet can still be a counterfeit!
Purchased from a top rated business seller. Several photos were provided, so I could see the COA and it was sealed in cellophane. The country of origin was Ireland and the code 269-14670 as is suggested to be genuine. The DVD loaded, the product key worked so all was well. The packet states licensed for non commercial use for up to 3 PC's. This appears to be one of the giveaways now as it is not a student version, but I wasn't aware of this. After a couple of months I wanted to install it on my laptop and couldn't use the DVD, so tried over the net and of course it didn't work. Rang Microsoft who told me I have a developer key, so as others have said it may well work for a while and then stop working. They pointed me to www.microsoft.com/howtotell and this shows you some of what to look out for. In my case it turns out the hologram DVD is actually a sticker, rather than embedded in the DVD. Now I look closely at the instructions I can see they are copies. I'm out of time with ebay and Paypal. By purchasing with Paypal you lose your rights under the section 75 card act, so you can't claim via your credit card company. I've filed a counterfeit claim with Microsoft, so will have to see if that turns anything up, otherwise it's an expensive lesson learnt.
