I'm a private collector with a full time job. I like to think I'm good at this ebaying lark, yet despite my best efforts and some glorious feedback I still struggle to sell stuff on here. Just added a guest book feature so please use it!

Cards mostly. But I'm also a bit of a Marvel Comics buff, a Dr Who fan, a failed writer, an amateur astrologer, a film & classic TV buff, and a fan of all kinds of music besides, so all kinds of stuff can attract my attention.

I now have around 40 ring binders full of cards, plus over 100 dedicated albums with the cards stuck in for good. Still seeking out interesting items though and not completely exhausted the less expensive end of the market yet. Also got pretty stupendous collections of the other things I mentioned but not adding much to them right now.

I have a theory about selling on here stating that buyers are somehow more attracted by an intriguing, compelling mixed lot of cards that appears to promise much and yet is ultimately rather disappointing. I've fallen for that one myself, and in the cold light of day, if a lot is not accompanied by stupendous close-up photos and an almost card-by-card inventory I'd seriously advise against buying. Personally, as a seller, I try to be as honest as I can be in the face of buyers who have a habit of concluding that you are bigging everything up in an effort to sell it. I've bought cards on here that were described to me as fair-good and yet on receipt I considered them worse than poor. Grading cards isn't always easy, but I have a tendency to under-grade for fear of receiving feedback that may damage my chances of selling in the future.

I don't have a shop on here yet and I'm not a powerseller but the people all over the world who've bought from me are generally very pleased and I still have 100% feedback. I've opened a guest book now so that satisfied customers can say good things about me (or not). I've also finally got round to uploading a couple of photos of myself. I've had an ABOUT ME page on here for nearly a year now though it rarely gets looked at. I've posted a great guide you can find under the heading NICK'S TOP 10 TIPS FOR FLEDGLING CARD COLLECTORS. I've also started what I believe is the one and only card collecting group on ebay right now (details below). Finally, as I've already said on my about me page, this is my second ebay incarnation. I had well over 300 positive feedback the first time around, but after being the victim of a terrifying scam I wasn't on here for several years; after I came back I started again from scratch. My feedback should really be more like 800 and I'm a bit sick about that.

As long as you pay, I don't really mind how. It's cheaper for me if you don't use paypal, but it's hard work for both of us and it takes a lot longer if you want to do it any other way so I don't really have any preferences.

I am red hot on the P&P. Everything I send out not only arrives, it arrives in the condition I sent it out in. Sometimes I find I've undercharged, so the buyer wins. And I always check I haven't overcharged and issue partial refunds on the rare occasions that I do. I usually despatch goods on the next working day after receiving payment. Often I'll despatch the same day if I can. But I always put 3 working days to cover any unforeseen difficulties I may have.

I've never had anybody so unhappy that they wanted to send something back to me, but if that's the case I'm happy to refund on safe receipt of the goods.

HOT NEWS 25.09.12 - I have today started a group for card collectors. It's called CARTOPHILIAC. Why? Well because I don't know any other collectors and because there didn't seem to be one on here despite the fact that there's a group for people who collect thimbles that has 73 members! Just click on COMMUNITY at the top of the ebay home page then select GROUPS from the drop-down menu and enter CARTOPHILIAC into the search field. I'd love to hear from you. If you don't want to join but need to contact me then use the standard message service. I'm on here at some point every day and will get back to you as soon as.

Most people that only buy on here don't realise just how much bottom rung of the ladder sellers like me have to pay for the pleasure of trying to sell stuff on here. For every item I sell on here I've paid to list at least two or three other items nobody bought. If an item sells I usually have to pay three different fees. If I undercharge on the P&P as well it means I'm out of pocket in 4 different ways. Often I end up practically giving stuff away on here because I've spent more than the item is worth on listing fees and just want to see the back of it.

If you're happy then say so! It takes 10 seconds to leave me some good feedback and it may just convince somebody else to buy something from me. Too many people on here just can't be bothered and small time, hardworking, honest guys like me have a tough enough time selling on here without that kind of complacency.
