2 of 2 found this helpful Put into an IBM R31. Running a 1200MHz P3 processor and 512MB PC133 RAM. Boosted speed significantly. Faster startup for Windows XP. Programs such as Firefox, Excel and even flash videos load and run better.
HDTune indicates a 3-fold performance increase on the stock hard drive (a 20GB 4200rpm IBM disk). Transfer rate increased from 15MB/sec to 50MB/s. Access times and burst rate improved slightly. Noise significantly reduced. Battery life improved.
Overall - very satisfied.

Excellent, reccommended.
Needs a specific type of motherboard if you want to run this as a boot drive (Although with SSD, you'd be crazy to do that!). Also needs certain versions of Windows - so check compatability is my advice.
Runs fast and cool, used as storage. Takes a while to copy data over, got around 90MB/s, although my board is SATA2, not sure if SATA3 would make a difference. Currently pay a bit of a premium, although if space is an issue in your HTPC, recommended. Those HD recordings take up masses of space!
