Lovely relatively rare adult novel by Frances H Burnett in an amazing condition for its age, including DJ. The author accepted my offer and sent the book in very good packaging to protect the book from damage. Fast delivery and excellent customer service. Very highly recommended seller who I would use again without hesitation!

Brilliant Bergman
This is just one of the most involving films I've ever seen. It certainly won't appeal to those who only like blockbusters and/or comedies (nothing wrong with them, I've got plenty BUT this film calls for wider tastes than that). It's the story of three sisters, two of whom are looking after the third in the terminal stages of cancer, and their housekeeper. In truth it is the housekeeper who seems to care for the dying sister most; the other two sisters are constrained by theor different personalities and their attitudes to each other and their sister. Bergman uses flashback to lift the veil on these personalities and it is astonishing how much he reveals, without direct dialogue, about his characters and what drives them. There are scenes of suffering that are harrowing without being sensational and scenes of caring that are touching without being mawkish. The art of Bergman that went into the filming and the performances of actors that he had worked with many times can make the overall effect seem effortless but this is a film that has layers of meaning; I've only watched it once but I'll be returning to it many times. As a footnote, it's interesting that Bergman packs into 88 minutes all that needs to be said without making you feel that the pace is too much - other directors would have turned in a film of 2 hours or more. Perhaps not the film to try as your first Bergman film but definitely a must-see.

Superb record!
No idea why someone rated this 1*. It's a great record for those who like dark, ambient and politically inspired music. Think Muslimgauze, updated.

Classic crime comedy
A real gem of film comedy from a particular era. Black comedy, that is; after all, every member of the robbery gang is dead by the end of the film. The plot is simple but effective and all the characters are splendidly two dimensional stereotypes - but that's what makes the comedy work. It's not lazy film-making, it's taking the stereotypes beloved of many lesser B films and using them to good effect. Perhaps a pity that the police once again are prtrayed as good-natured bumblers; and the lady that is the object of the killing intention is truly annoying; one tends to wish they had succeeded! Great fun, well made.
