Superstar Twinkles!
Well worth a listen without doubt, some of the tracks are a bit touchy feely (don't we all wish?) but John gets up to full wail in the second half and reminds us why he truly twinkles in the great firmament of the West End galaxy!

Mega Power - This just rocks!
Being a bit of an old grumpy, I am not sold on the principle that every one of my VHS videos should be updated to a la mode hyper-wizz DVD format. I still listen to Berlioz on 8 track and don't even get me started on the virtues of wax cylinders! This performance proved an exception to the rule...VHS abandoned...shiny DVD now on the shelf. Why? Because this is AGAIG (As Good As It Gets). As this is a concert performance it doesn't come over as cheesey schmultz. The operatic chromatic exaggerations that are performance essentials at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane as a rule ruin any transfer of musical theatre to the small screen. Not the case here. This performance has the cast of a lifetime, the richest orchestrations, a huge choir and is in this reviewers opinion a just-must have on a stereo-sound with vista-vision DVD.

I loved this and I loathe children! Intelligent comedy par-excellence. Internecine & familial frailties ruthlessly and surgically exposed. This series is in engagement with it's audience from the off and is a devilish combination of surrealistic yet scarily logical absurdity and positive, feel good fun. TBR. To be recommended.
